The firm plans to launch services to six other regions in the country, a move which would enable people living in the remotest areas to access digital TV channels.
The StarTimes’s Deputy Managing Director, Business Development, Jack Zhou told East African Business Week in Dar es Salaam last week, they want to set up a powerful, open and secure multi-frequency and multi-channel digital wireless TV transmission platform in Tanzania.
StarTimes, is the brand name for Star Media Tanzania Limited. It operates in a joint venture with the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC). Zhou said they offer a digital multiplex service in Tanzania, including digital TV sets and digital decoders.
