"Kikwete will be the first Tanzanian president ever paying a formal visit to Turkey," Presidential Press Center told a statement, indicating that the visit had a historical and special importance.
The statement said President Gül had paid a visit to Tanzania on February 22-23, 2009, noting that Kikwete's visit would strengthen the progress recorded in Turkey-Tanzania bilateral relations.
The statement said, "Turkey believes that the visit would yield tangible and fruitful results to boost cooperation and partnership opportunities between Turkey and Tanzania."
The statement said, "Turkey's interest in Africa is not limited only with economic and commercial targets but at the same time includes development of Tanzania and other African countries. Economic and social development, dealing with diseases, agricultural development, irrigation, energy and education are the other areas. Turkey's move towards Africa is not unilateral but based on sustainable partnership and cooperation within the framework of win-win principle. Turkey will continue to exert efforts for restoration of stability and welfare in the continent protecting interests of Africa."
